You are Exceptional with Mama Elephant

Hello crafty friends! Davina here, with a cute Shabby Chic inspired prize ribbon for you today . The May release was so cute and full of incredible school themed sets perfect for all of the end of year projects, cards and thank yous. I have been seeing so many fun beaded and custom felt prize ribbons as of late, and I wanted to make a ruffled paper version on a card, using new stamps from Mama Elephant.

I started by choosing my images from the new You’re a Superstar stamp set,  then I went into my stash of Creative Cuts and found some scalloped dies that i thought would layer beautifully. I decided on the pretty Caly Circle Lace dies and the super fun Combo Circle layering dies. Patterned papers always decide the color combos for my projects, so after choosing some shabby chic striped paper for the background layer, I selected some soft rose cardstock to make the base of my prize ribbon. I cut 2 of the larger doily style shapes and then 2 from a dusty soft blue for the smaller layers. All of these paper pieces received a very gently ink blending along the edges and some soft gold splatters on the pink. For the center of the ribbon used colored ink from The Stamp Market to partially stamp the sentiment. I wanted to make faux beads for the word exceptional, and used the wonderful Creative Cuts die set called String of Letters. After cutting the “letter beads”, I assembled them by sandwiching 2 circles and some bakers twine with a teeny dot of hot glue. It’s a tedious few minutes, but these kinds of accents make a world of difference.

You must get the rest of the accents ready and placed before adhering the bracelet portion with the letter beads. That way it can be applied with the appropriate amount of “give” and swing without covering anything up. I took a strip of the striped paper and gently misted it with water to make the folding of the ruffle easier. I glued die cut the row cheering cuties across the strip and got ready to assemble the ribbon.

Using some creamy crepe paper from a party streamer roll, I scrunched up about 14 inches to make the ruffle. I then cut it in half to double the length now that it was scrunched up to about 6 inches. I ran some hot glue around half of a large pink circle, then quickly arranged my ruffle. Then I worked on the other half and just cut off and discarded the extra. I arranged a few foam dots in the center space then put my second gold splattered pink circle. After assembling my Circle Combo for the middle portion, I adhered that to the middle and glued on the row of characters towards the bottom of the medal. Finally i attached the string of letter beads with a dot of glue on just the first and last letter so that the word itself can swing and wiggle.

I selected some soft and thin sheer ribbons to layer at the bottom of my medal and left them only long enough to reach the bottom of my card. I distressed my patterned paper by rubbing some thinned gold paint along there edges then adhered my large ruffled prize ribbon to the center. I think it would have been nice to apply a magnet to the back and just make the ribbon removable, but I didn't think of until it was too late.

I hope you enjoyed this project, imagine how many different prize ribbons you could create for so many occasions! Thank you for stopping by, Davina

Rock On! Designer Series Project

Hello crafty friends! Davina here with a “Rockin” box card I made using new stamps and dies from the November Mama Elephant release. I just adore the whole music themed collection and all the possibilities that are waiting to be created. I made several K Pop themed cards for the release but for my Designer Series project I really wanted to make something that felt more like a blast from my past. No Doubt has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager and I was determined to make a little scene.

I began by drawing a drum set ,and although it took me a couple hours, I felt like it was so worth it. I drew a basic drum set on my iPad and printed it out in a size that would basically extend the width of a card. After I gave it a quick coloring I spent a few minutes fussy cutting it out. I actually used a small paintbrush and black acrylic paint to write the words “No Doubt” in the center drum. It looked the old Rock Steady cover art to me.

Next, I needed a drummer. I used a character from the Boy Band stamp set, and carefully masked off the extended arm that was holding a microphone. That way I could draw an arm holding a drum set. I sketched it in pencil before outlining with a Multiliner. I decided it needed two drumsticks, so I just drew one over the other palm and put a gel pen highlight down the length to cover the hand. In the end, it turned out much better than I thought it would. Finally, I stamped and colored a few other images from the Boy Band and Girl Group stamp sets.

I made a large boxcard using a 12x12 piece of kraft cardstock.  I trimmed it to 5.5 inches tall and 11.5 inches long. Then scored it at 4.25, 1.25, 4.25, and again at 1.25 inches.  This left a 1/2 inch tab that I eventually used to close the box. I cut out a window on the first large section using the Placemat Set CC and then crafted a frame for the scalloped oval with the B2B Arches CC

I used bold red and black grungy paper that reminded me of their old style of dress, and decorated the front with a layered bow and stage equipment using the new On Stage CC and Take A Bow CC. After adhering a variety of trimmed patterned papers on the exterior and interior panels, I inserted the drum set on a short insert and some die cut words across the very back.

Once it was full and bursting with images, I closed it up using the last little 1/2 tab and some glue.  I hope this inspires you to be a little creative and recreate your favorite music group. Thank you for stopping by,
Davina

October Designer Series

Hello crafty friends! Davina here, with some cheerful holiday inspiration. I made a winter wonderland of a scene, using the new Docket Lil Flap Taggies  Creative Cuts and individual words, selectively stamped, from new Holiday Reading stamp set. I really love how the past couple of releases have built upon the Little Docket series of products, so I wanted to make sure to showcase the new die set.

I stamped, die cut, and assembled 6 different Lil Docket Taggies, using images from Lil Christmas Docket, and finished each tag with a colorful stamped layered label and a striped twine knot. I loved the size of the text from the Holiday Reading set, and masked off individual words to stamp onto each layer.

Next, I die cut a winter background using the Magic Snow Cover from Bristol smooth cardstock and ink blended an ombré aqua that I splattered with white and teal ink. I stamped images from an older set that matched the characters from Lil Christmas Docket, called Snow Friends. I adhered them onto a snow bank at the bottom of the scene then arranged the “Taggies” in the space above.

I finished this card off by layering some pretty candy cane striped patterned paper under my scene, and adding a small spattering of sequins around the edges. Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you are inspired to use the new “Taggies” in a different way.

Mama Elephant June Stampede

Welcome to the Mama Elephant Design Team blog hop!

Our newest release is now live and available for purchase in the store!

www.mamaelephant.com

Today I’m sharing a cutie shaker card I made using two of the new products, Bewitched and the scalloped Placemat Set. The Little Agenda Witches has long been a favorite of mine and I’m so excited for the new larger images in Bewitched and the amazing Witchy Tree House! I created a shaker frame with the lovely new Placemat Set creative Cuts, and don’t tell anyone my secret, but I used partial diecutting and the B2B Arches die set to cut out the center and make the frame. They worked wonderfully.

I filled the shaker with bright shaker beads and iridescent stars, then layered a large die cut sentiment called Big Boo that I inked and painted with glitter paint. I surrounded the frame with images from the new Bewitched Stamp set and finished with a few sparkly sequins and jewels.

Mama Elephant April Designer Series

Hello crafty friends! Davina here with my April Designer Series project. This new April Mama Elephant release is jam packed with so much “gaming” goodness, and fun “Vegas” vibes. I especially love the card making set called Playing Cards, with its cute Royal icons and all of the suits and numbers. Having grown up and lived in Las Vegas for the majority of my life, I’m very much drawn to this set.

I wanted to make a poker themed card, but with a pretty custom deck of playing cards. I’ve had some beautiful patterned papers for the past several years, that remind me of the gorgeous Rifle Paper Co. products, and I knew the time to stop hoarding it was now. I made 5 playing cards for my poker hand, all double layered so they would stand out against the pattern, and stamped and colored the two face up cards.

The card base for this card is 5x6.5 with a stitched A2 sized layer in the center, and a striped layer to fill some of the negative space. I wanted to make sure I had enough room to fit the cards fanned out, and add my poker chips. I stamped several poker chips from the new set Lady Luck, and arranged them on each side of my cards, to look like my bet. Finally, I made a long dovetail banner and stamped a custom sentiment using the Little Signage Agenda alphabet stamps.

I really love the creamy undertones on this card, paired with the pretty patterned papers and small gold details. On the inside of the card I stamped a sentiment from the Let’s Game Sayings sentiment set. And to finish off the whole scene, I tucked a tag with twine behind the cards.

I hope you like this card. I think it’s so pretty and nice to have a set that makes it simple to create more grown up cards, but still have the super adorable illustrations. Thank you for stopping by, Davina

Christmas is here with Davina

Hello Crafty friends! Davina here, to share some fun Christmas cheer with you today. I’ve said it many times, and I’ll say it again, the Mama Elephant Little Agenda series is one of my favorite collections of stamps. I love being able to add many little cuties onto my scenes, and i especially love combining them onto cover grid backgrounds.

The card I’m sharing today combines the new and adorable Little Elephant Agenda stamps, and the recent Elephant Cheer stamps. My favorite technique for using cover grid cover plates, is to layer a dimensional foreground at the bottom of the scene, while filling in the exposed grid with Agenda images. This is exactly how I built the card I’m sharing today.

I cut two panels from white cardstock, using the Globies Cover Grid, and glued them together for a little more structure. I used some glittery Champaign colored cardstock for the snow globe bases and adhered them at the bottom of each snow globe. After mounting the cover grid over some winter themed patterned paper, I mounted the whole thing onto a slightly larger striped panel from the same paper pack. At the very bottom of the grid I mounted a glittery stitched hillside using some foam tape. I filled that hillside with stamped and colored images from Elephant Cheer, and added sparkling Wink of Stella to the stars.

I added a Little Elephant Agenda image to each exposed snow globe window using a foam dot, and sprinkled a few die cut snowflakes around the card front. I finished the card off with the teeniest strip of a sentiment that I partially stamped from a different Mama Elephant Christmas set. I really love combining and mixing multiple sets onto my cards, and I always hope that my projects will inspire you to do the same. Thank you for dropping by, Davina

Our newest release is now live and available for purchase in the store!

Today I’m sharing a bright and vibrant holiday card using a mix of new and classic Mama elephant products. I used the new Little Elephant Agenda stamps and arranged them onto my Ornament grid background. I put some very busy patterned paper behind the openings, so I decided to layer my die cut sentiment with multi colored cut outs. This sentiment was part of the Penguins Waddle stamp and coordinating die set.

October Mama Elephant Designer Series: Happy Holiday Mail

Hello crafty friends. Davina here with my October Designer Series Project. I’m calling this my “Happy Holiday Mail” card, and used a fun mix of new and previously released products. With the holidays upon us, I wanted to get into the spirit with a bright pile of gifts.

I used images from the new set called Surprise Gi fts and the coordinating dies as the focal point of my scene.  After stamping and coloring my images, I cut them out and got to work on the rest of my scene. The cutie llama with his letter inspired me to make a post box type card. I don’t have any mail box dies, so I created a DIY post box using the B2B Arches Creative Cuts die set. I chose a medium sized arch and die cut it from red carstock, then selected a smaller size and cut another red arch. I removed about a half inch from the middle and it left me with two sections. One arched for the top and a rectangle for the bottom. I inked each piece and adhered them to the larger arch. I stamped and heat embossed letters to form the word “mail” using Layla Letters and the coordinating dies and glued them in place on the top portion.

I kept up with the postage theme by using the Postage Frame Creative Cut die set, and adhered my mailbox, stamped images and a sentiment word bubble onto some pretty patterned paper in the stitched frame. I then added two more paper layered to build up my card front. With only the top portion of my card looking empty, I wanted to add something pretty.

I stamped some boughs of holly leaf garland and greenery using colored ink, onto both white a green colored cardstock. The recent Holly and Leaves stamps and CC were perfect for layering and creating a lush swag of greenery. I used the boba ball die cut from the Boba Shaker Combo CC to cut a bunch of red berries in only two passes of the die machine. Once all assembled and looking great, I added some glittery Wink of Stella sparkles to the berries.

I love all of the bright and bold colors, combined with glittery dimension on this card. I also had so much fun mixing and matching my older and new supplies together, that is always my favorite card making technique. I hope this inspires you to give some new life to your craft stash. Thank you for stopping by, Davina

Mama Elephant Designer Series

Hello crafty friends! Davina here with you to share my Designer Series project. Today I have a bursting at the seem box card, that I made using some of the newly released products, and a few images from a couple of christmases ago.

I really wanted to capture a festive North Pole candy land type scene and the new Little Agenda Sweets was the inspiration for my card. Initially, I didn’t plan on making a box card, but I stamped out most of the images before I had a design in place. Next, I cut out the larger arched panels using the B2B Arches CC die set. After coloring my images and die cutting with the Coordinating dies, I quickly realized I was going to need more real estate. I used some dies from my stash to cut the side panels and stitched layers from remnants of cute patterned papers I had accumulated, and assembled the box card onto the B2B Arches. Next, I cut some inserts from more matching papers and began adhering the images into place.

The large gingerbread house went in the back since it would take up all of the space, then I put the little cart in the middle with the adorable llama perched in the opening. I surrounded the cart with large staggered candy canes, and placed the cutest little trio onto the first layer. I added Santa & Mrs. Claus (with a reindeer) from the set called Secret Santa, along with Santa’s bag of toys and a glittery candy.

To finish this box card off, I used a shimmery white wavy banner from Winter Banner Greetings CC die set, that i surrounded completely with candy and the shop sign from the Little Agenda Sweets set. I love being able to stamp the sign with colored ink (pro tip- use distress oxide ink for small sentiments so it doesn’t stain your stamps pink!) Every single layer of this card is glittery with both chunky glitter accents and sparkly Wink of Stella.

I hope you love this little card as much as I do, thank you for stopping by,

Davina

The August 2024 New Release is now available for purchase in The Greeting Farm Store! This month we introduced 3 new stamp sets. Our first set called ANYA LOVES SUSHI features Anya ready to devour all her favorite sushi dishes. In our 2nd set, EMMY SENDS, we have an adorable girl holding a bird who's ready to send off lots of sweetness your way. Lastly, we introduced ANYA DELIVERS with Anya driving by on her scooter with happy wishes to all.

My project for today’s blog hop uses the super cute new set Anya Delivers. I adore how cute she is riding on the scooter making her deliveries. I created a basic pattern paper background with a grassy hill in front of a house die cut. I left it very simple so that the packages and cute pup would stand out and help my Anya really POP! Across the top i layered a large die cut sentiment that i painted with holographic glitter paint
